With a history dating back to 1993, Ota has established itself as a pioneer in the world of Japanese contemporary art, and was an early promoter of artist Yayoi Kusama, among others. One of the gallery's goals is to support art with a regional character extending from Southeast Asia through East Asia to the Middle East. Ota has galleries in Singapore and Shanghai, and takes part in international art fairs around the world. It is located very close to several other galleries in the Piramide building and the nearby complex665 art space.
